Team 3 Tomahawk - Andrew Wasnac & Nick Bachtel - 2

Andrew and Nick took a piece of 1060 steel and forged a remarkable tomahawk in a league of its own. Their piece is styled to have a hammer marked finish on the blade which melds seamlessly into a mirror polished edge. They formed the poll into a square to serve as a hammer and hardened both the blade and poll. Both of their maker's marks are forged into the head of the hawk and they used birds eye maple for the handle. Their piece comes with a custom made leather mask.

Andrew and Nick are blacksmiths known for their unique style: Andy is best recognized for his talent with the Brut De Forge method which is all about forging steel almost entirely to shape, and preserving the look of the steel as forged rather than doing most of the finish work afterwards. Nick stands in contrast to Andy with his skill being to forge traditional styled knives which he often takes to a mirror polish. Nick's blades are reminiscent of a bygone era where the United States was just a handful of states or when the Wild West ruled.
