Team 8 Tomahawk - Greg Gottschalk & Andrew Takach

Greg and Andrew went where no other team dared: they forged a tomahawk with a solid tang. Andrew made a bar of damascus in advance and forge welded it onto 1080 steel to create the handle. Under Greg's guidance, Andrew expertly forged the blade out and then passed it to Greg for profile grinding. He ground the poll into a spike and set to work on pinning two pieces of micarta onto the tang and sanding them into the perfect grip to chop, slash, or throw. Greg Gottschalk is an ABS Mastersmith and he tutored Andrew Takach who is a full-time bladesmith and Forged in Fire champion.
