Inspect the pin and striking head before use. Remove tools with cracks, bends, chips or mushroomed heads from service. Wear appropriate eye and hand protection and use a hammer whose face and weight are suited to the pin.
Keep fingers away from closing gaps and never place any part of the body where shifting steel could trap it. Do not leave an alignment pin to carry the load of a connection or use it as a permanent fastener.
